The Pan-Africanist Journal: its past and future

The Pan-Africanist was a periodical published by the student members of the Program of African Studies at Northwestern University. The first issue was published in March 1971 under the main editor Haroun al Rashid Adamu and associate editors Galen Hull, Samuel K. Oklu, and Alessandro Triulzi. Cover art and journal illustrations were created by Harold Dorsey.

The Pan-Africanist had been published between 1971 and 1988, when the last, tenth issue of the journal had been published. The Pan-Africanist was a interdisciplinary platform for Africanist scholars at and outside of Northwestern University. A broad range of stellar thinkers, writers, and artists had contributed to the journal throughout the years.
